Rhodes, one of Greece’s Dodecanese islands is the ninth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. In our opinion, it’s also one of the most beautiful!

The island is best known for its ancient ruins, picturesque coastline, and resorts, but we love it most for its beaches. Rhodes has many beautiful beaches with soft sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and various amenities, making them a great place to relax.

To show you what the island’s beaches are like, we’ve compiled a list of the best beaches in Rhodes, Greece. We’ll tell you what each beach has to offer, where to find them, and where to stay nearby. Let’s dive in!

The Best Beaches In Rhodes, Greece

1. Elli Beach

Elli Beach is one of the most popular beaches on Rhodes. It’s located in the island’s capital, within Rhodes town, so it’s easily accessible. Not to mention, there are plenty of amenities here.

Elli Beach boasts a watersports centre and plenty of accommodation options as well as sun beds and umbrellas, so it’s well-organized. There are some fantastic restaurants and bars nearby, including the Baia Seaside. As such, you can enjoy a lively atmosphere with plenty of beachside music.

Not only is this beach a great spot for sunbathing, but there are plenty of water sports on offer. Not to mention, there’s a diving platform if you’re feeling particularly adventurous. You may want to pack water shoes though, as it’s very pebbly!

If you’re looking to stay near Elli Beach, the Ibiscus Hotel is a fantastic option. It offers an outdoor pool, fitness centre, an on-site restaurant and bar, and bicycle rentals.

2. Paralia Antoni Kouin (Anthony Quinn Bay)

Anthony Quinn Bay, better known locally as Paralia Antoni Kouin is widely regarded as one of the calmest and most picturesque beaches on the Island. It’s located approximately 20 km (12 miles) from Rhodes Town and can be reached by car, taxi, and boat.

This secluded cove features a small sandy beach with fine pebbles, turquoise waters, and a small pine forest. It’s perfect for sunbathing, walking, and swimming. There’s a panoramic viewpoint near Profitis Ilias Church, too!

Anthony Quinn Bay is also a popular snorkelling, scuba diving, and kayaking spot. The beach doesn’t have many amenities, but you’ll find sun loungers and umbrellas here, and a taverna near the stairway selling snacks, salads, and drinks.

If you’re looking to stay near Anthony Quinn Bay, Ladiko Inn Hotel Faliraki is a solid choice. It’s an 8-minute walk from the beach and provides spacious rooms with air conditioning.

3. Pefki Beach

Pefki Beach is easily one of the best beaches in Rhodes, Greece. It’s a beautiful golden sand beach with turquoise waters and plenty of amenities, including sun loungers and umbrellas.

You’ll find the beach in the charming town of Pefkos along the island’s eastern coast, approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) from Lindos. Aside from its stunning scenery, we love this beach for its accessibility.

Many hotels in Pefkos have direct access to the beach, while others are only a short walk away. The beach is also lined with beach bars and restaurants. One of our favourites is Lee Beach Bar!

On the beach, you’ll spend most of your time swimming in the sea or sunbathing. We stayed in Lindia Thalassa when visiting Rhodes and it was perfect. This hotel has a large private swimming pool, a swim-up bar, multiple rooms, and private access to Pefki Beach.

4. Lindos Beach

Lindos Beach is an 8-minute drive from Pefki Beach, so you can easily visit both places in one day. Sitting in a small cove below Lindos town and its iconic 14th-century acropolis, you can reach this beach by boat, taxi, car, and bus.

Lindos Beach has a long stretch of golden sand, crystal-clear waters, and a wide range of amenities, including sun loungers, umbrellas, accommodation and shops. There are also fantastic restaurants and bars nearby, such as Panos.

The beach’s shallow waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Meanwhile, sunbathing and boating are also popular. We recommend exploring Lindos town before heading to Lindos Beach to relax, admire the views, and swim in the sea.

If you wish to stay near Lindos Beach, Maris Lindos Suites & Apartments is an excellent option. A 5-minute walk from the beach, it offers rooms/suites with sea views, luxury furnishings, and access to a sun terrace.

5. Tsambika Beach

Tsambika Beach is another of the best beaches in Rhodes, Greece. This beach is located approximately halfway between Rhodes Town and Lindos, but it’s not as easy to reach as other beaches in this guide. Therefore, we recommend taking a taxi or driving a car here.

When you arrive at Tsambika Beach, you’ll be greeted by an idyllic stretch of golden sand (located between two verdant rocky headlands) and an endless turquoise sea. Tsambika Beach also boasts a wide range of amenities, including sun beds and umbrellas, bars, restaurants, and water sports centres.

Tsambikos Watersports offers various water-based activities, such as waterskiing and parasailing. If you’d prefer to keep your feet on the ground, you can paddle in the crystal-clear sea, sunbathe on the beach or drink cocktails at a beachfront bar.

Ramal Beach Bar & Restaurant is a popular place to grab something to eat and drink.

6. Agia Agathi Beach

Agia Agathi Beach is 9.6 km (6 miles) north of Lindos and approximately 39 km (24 miles) southeast of Rhodes Town. It’s best reached by car, and there’s a car park on the beach for added convenience.

Agia Agathi is a family-friendly beach with fine golden sand, shallow and calm emerald waters, and plenty of amenities. It sits inside a picturesque cove surrounded by lush hillsides and is just a short walk from the Medieval Castle of Feraklos and Haraki Beach.

Your time at the beach will be best spent relaxing in the sun, swimming in the sea, and walking to the ruins of Feraklos Castle. You could also hike to Agia Agathi Cave (a 22-minute walk), where you’ll find panoramic views of the beach.

Amenities found at Agia Agathi Beach include sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, water sports centres, and several tavernas, so the beach is well organised. Agathi Waterpark has a seriously fun inflatable waterpark.

7. Prasonisi Beach

Prasonisi Beach is one of the most unique beaches on Rhodes. It’s the southernmost beach on the island, approximately 50 minutes from Lindos by car, which is by far the easiest way to reach the beach.

What makes Prasonisi Beach so unique is its stunning appearance. Prasonisi Beach is a picturesque strip of sand that divides the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas. At the tip of the beach lies Prasonisi Island, where you’ll find impressive coastal views, a lighthouse, and a watchtower.

While swimming, sunbathing, and hiking are popular at the beach, Prasonisi is best known for its lively surf scene. The beach’s strong winds make surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing incredibly popular. As such, there are watersports centres at the beach and designated safe swimming zones.

Procenter Prasonisi is one of the best surf rental shops at the beach. Other amenities include tavernas, shops, sun beds, and umbrellas.

8. Traganou Beach

If you’re staying in Faliraki, you should spare some time to visit Traganou Beach. It’s located on the outskirts of the village on the way towards Lindos and is only a 7-minute car journey from the centre of Faliraki.

Traganou Beach is very different from the other beaches in Faliraki because it’s the only one that doesn’t have sand. Instead, this picturesque beach is filled with small black and white pebbles. It also features some interesting rock formations that are worth checking out.

These rock formations form imposing caves. The caves have a unique shape that makes them perfect for sea salt collecting. In fact, locals still use the salt reserves and collect crystals from the area!

At Traganou Beach, you’ll find a wide range of amenities and inviting crystal-clear turquoise waters perfect for swimming. Amenities on or near the beach include a restaurant, changing area, toilets, free parking, a watersports centre, and sun loungers.

This easily makes it one of the best beaches in Rhodes, Greece!

9. Kallithea Beach

Kallithea Beach is one of the best beaches on Rhodes for tourists staying in the Old Town. It’s only 8 km (5 miles) away and can be easily reached by car, taxi, and bus. Despite offering a gorgeous stretch of pebble-dashed sand, emerald waters, and breathtaking scenery, Kallithea Beach is better known for its hot springs.

The hot springs, built by the Italians in the 7th century B.C., only reopened in 2007 after being restored and renovated. Kallithea Springs has a private bay area where you can enjoy the Aegean Sea and a handful of beautiful buildings.

Not only is Kallithea Beach a great place for swimming but there are also water sports on offer and amenities, such as sun loungers, restaurants, and hotels. Elysium Resort & Spa, a 5-star beachfront hotel with a lagoon-style pool, 3 bars, and a restaurant is one of the best hotels at the beach.

10. Faliraki Beach

There are many beaches in Faliraki, a lively fishing village and seaside resort along Rhodes’ northeast coast, but Faliraki beach is the best and most family-friendly. For starters, the beach’s proximity to the centre of Faliraki and Rhodes Old Town (18 minutes drive) makes it easily accessible.

Secondly, it offers a glorious stretch of soft golden sand framed by crystal-clear turquoise waters. Finally, the beach has plenty of useful amenities and easy access to Faliraki’s best tourist attractions.

Amenities you’ll find on or near the beach include beachfront bars and restaurants, umbrellas, sun loungers, and watersports. Those of you wanting to relax can sunbathe and swim. Meanwhile, families and thrill seekers can enjoy attractions such as Faliraki Waterpark and Sea Park Faliraki.

If you want to stay near Faliraki Beach, check out Pegasos Deluxe Beach Hotel. It sits alongside the beach and offers a swimming pool, restaurant, sports facilities, and family suites.

11. Glystra Beach

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Rhodes’ most popular beaches, head to Glystra Beach along the island’s southeastern coast. This is a gorgeous beach that sits inside a small cove surrounded by picturesque landscapes!

It offers tourists beautiful white sand, calm waters, and a tranquil atmosphere less than 15 minutes away from Lindos and Pefkos in the bay of Lardos. You can easily reach the beach by bus, taxi, and car.

Unfortunately, the beach was heavily impacted by the Rhodes wildfires in 2023, so there are few amenities on the beach. However, you’ll still likely find some umbrellas to sunbathe under.

Glystra is the perfect place to relax, swim in the sea, and enjoy a leisurely stroll along the sand. Boutique 5 Hotel & Spa is one of the best hotels near Glystra Beach. This adult-only hotel features luxury beachfront bedrooms with private pools and sea views.

12. Stegna Beach

If you’re looking for a beach in Rhodes that offers easy access to hotels, bars, and restaurants, many things to do, amenities, and plenty of space to kick back and relax, Stegna Beach is perfect. This picturesque beach is located approximately a 10-minute drive from Archangelos in Eastern Rhodes.

It’s also 30 minutes from Lindos and 45 minutes from Rhodes. You can reach the beach by car, taxi, and bus.

Stegna Beach has a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, making it a great place to sunbathe and swim in the sea. Having said that, it also boasts watersports so there’s much to do. When you’re not relaxing on a sun lounger, take to the turquoise water on a paddleboard or snorkel with tropical fish.

Regarding accommodation, Stegna Dream is one of the best places to stay near the beach. It offers sea-view apartments equipped with balconies, walk-in showers, kitchens, and beach views.

13. Agios Pavlos Beach

The penultimate beach on our list is Agios Pavlos Beach. This beautiful beach can be found in the scenic St. Paul’s Bay, on the outskirts of Lindos.

As such, this beach is easily accessible from Lindos, Pefkos, and Rhodes. You can reach the beach by boat, car, bus, and taxi. Its proximity to Lindos town centre also makes it possible to walk to the beach (the walk takes just over 10 minutes).

The main draw to Agios Pavlos Beach is its soft golden sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and scenic surroundings. It’s a fantastic place to swim and sunbathe. However, its impressive natural surroundings make it an excellent place to walk too.

Matheos Agathos Rock overlooks the beach, offering spectacular views of Rhodes’ natural scenery. As for amenities, you’ll find sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach, and plenty of cafes, tavernas, and accommodation options nearby.

14. Fourni Beach

If you’re searching for peace and tranquillity on the island, head to Fourni Beach, a hidden gem along the western coast. Fourni Beach is only a small beach in a postcard-perfect cove, but it has much to offer.

Admittedly, there isn’t much to do, but that’s what makes it so great. You’ll spend your day sunbathing, swimming in the sea, taking in the views, and playing games with your family and friends. Unfortunately, Fourni Beach is quite out of the way (around 46 miles from Rhodes), so you can only reach it by car.

However, despite its relatively remote location, Fourni Beach has a variety of amenities that make it easier for tourists to spend an entire day there. This includes a car park, a small canteen serving snacks and drinks, sunbeds, umbrellas, toilets, and shower facilities.

Occasionally, the beach also has a volleyball net set up for visitors to use.

There are so many incredible public beaches in Rhodes, Greece. Whether you’re looking for a hidden gem or somewhere more touristy with plenty of amenities, there’s something for everyone!

The beaches of Elli, Tsambika, and Prasonisi are some of the island’s most popular, with their crystal-clear waters, sandy shores, and striking scenery. However, there are plenty of other beautiful spots to visit. Just be aware that some of the lesser-known beaches may not have many amenities.
