The 10 Places In Bali You Have To Visit

Last Updated: November 2 2020

Bali is a tropical paradise and has everything you could ever want from a destination. Gorgeous beaches, stunning temples and incredible waterfalls are only part of the scenery this island has to offer. This part of Indonesia really does have everything, and we loved our time in Bali. Here are 10 places in Bali you must visit!

1. Canggu

Canggu is a coastal town found on the South coast of Bali. It is a little hippie retreat where there are plenty of surfers as well as many funky shops and places to eat. I don’t think we have ever been to a place with such a relaxed vibe and it is the perfect place to chill. There were different live bands on every night at the beach, where you could buy drinks and just have a really nice time.

2. Tirta Gangga

This amazing place had been on our list before we’d even got to Bali and we weren’t disappointed! Tirta Gangga is a water palace located about 10km from Lura Lempuyang. This place is absolutely stunning, giving you the feeling that you are actually walking on water. There are different parts to walk around and plenty of fish to look at. The Koi here are huge, we’d never seen anything like it! It is best to get here relatively early as the crowds can get quite busy. We arrived at around 9:30am and there weren’t many people there at all but it soon started to fill up.

3. Lura lempuyang Luhur

When anyone thinks of Bali, this is definitely one place that comes to mind. Lura Lempuyang is one of the most treasured temples on the island to the locals, and it’s not hard to see why. It is located near Mt.Agung and you can see the volcano through the temples gates. You can often get a gorgeous view of the volcano, or you could just get cloud like us haha. Either way it is stunning! There are actually 3 temples here, with Lura Lempuyang being the first Temple you come to. The last temple is at least a 2 and a half walk upwards. Make sure to be respectful when visiting this temple including no yoga poses in front of the temple for photographs and no flying drones. Read more about Lura Lempuyang here.

4. Uluwatu Cliffside

The cliffs at Uluwatu really are insane! Jurassic park definitely springs to mind when visiting this amazing area. We managed to walk off the beaten track and find this incredible viewpoint where we could sit and watch the waves crash into the cliffs. It was definitely up there with our top moments in Bali. These cliffs make you feel so small and definitely show you the power of nature. Uluwatu is one of our favourite places here, and is one of the places in Bali you must visit.

5. Taman Soekasada Ujung

We hadn’t even heard of this place until our guide took us to it, and we are so glad he did! This water palace was stunning with there being a lovely view every turn you made. There were gorgeous flowers everywhere, and lots of places to explore. It took us over an hour to walk around the whole place, and take it all in. This is definitely a must if you are visiting Bali, especially as it doesn’t seem to be that popular yet.

6. Bali’s many Rice Terraces

This is what Bali is known for, the numerous rice terraces that are found all across the island. They are insane, and are a must see for anyone coming to this amazing island. They can get really popular later on in the day and super hot so it is probably best to go quite early. The rice terraces really are something else and we were blown away by how incredible they were. There is just green everywhere you look and it is a wonderful place to explore.

7. Tegenuegan waterfall

There are so many waterfalls in Bali, but Tegenuegan is the only one we visited unfortunately. We are definitely looking to go back and explore more. Tegenuegan waterfall is quite a popular waterfall in Bali and there were quite a few tourists when we visited. You can swim in the pool around the waterfall so it is a great place to keep cool in the scorching Bali heat. The waterfall itself is pretty impressive, and it is a must see for a holiday in Bali.

8. Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud

This ridge walk is a great way to get outdoors and see more of Bali’s amazing countryside. It’s not the longest walk but it is definitely one that should be done early in the morning when the sun isn’t beaming down on you. We also saw plenty of people jogging down this path but that is not for us haha. Definitely not in that heat! It’s a pretty easy walk, and gives you some nice views of rice terraces. There is also the odd cafe hidden away further on.

9. Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

The monkey forest is located in Ubud and is a must visit for any animal lovers. Or just anyone visiting Bali in general. There are around 600 of them located in the forest, however they often come up monkey forest road which is where we were staying. Beware they are cute but they are food stealers. They took our chocolate croissants, yes we are still not over it. The forest itself is lovely to walk around with nice trees, statues and bridges. For more information on the monkey forest sanctuary in Ubud click here. Although nerve wracking the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is definitely on our ‘places in Bali you must visit’ list.

10. Bali Swing

The Bali swings were definitely not something we were planning on doing, but we did it anyway. They had a couple swing for 300,000 IDR (about £16) which was quite expensive but super fun. They go quite high and give you a great view of the rice terraces where they are located. There are other swings too but they looked too scary for me haha, and we wanted to do the couple one anyway.

There are so many beautiful places in Bali that this number doesn’t even come close but it’s a starting point. If there are any places you loved in Bali, please drop them in the comments below so we can all see!

Thank you for reading this post, and we hope this has given you some inspiration for your much needed trip to Bali haha!
